"The Two Wheeled Approach to Self Esteem"
l l l l l
Sprockids Club: "Coast Riders,"Sunshine Coast, B.C.
Favourite Food: PASTA, and also I like pork chops with mushroom sause... but FRUIT is the all time best!
Favourite Music: any... I'm not that picky... as long as it isn't computer generated.
Favourite Movie: anything corney...eg. She's the Man... Ahahahhahahaha, I laghed so hard!
Pets: One dog, "Jewel"
Who inspires you? My dad.... but my mom will ALWAYS push me cuz I only can hope to be like her one day.
Current Bike: Specialized Stuntjumper.... but I only got it a week ago. Before that I used a Sprockids bike.
Components: Everything that you need on a bike...(Honestly, I don't really know. I just say, "As long as it runs, I love it."... But you can definately tell what bike has the nicest parts.
Sponsors/Supporters: no sponsors, but I know that I always have people supporters... exspecialy (other then family) Bob Stanhope and Lauraine Proctor.
Riding Since: since I can remember, but racing started this year (2006) .. My mom and dad got me into it at a young age and I love them for it.
What you enjoy most about mountain biking: I enjoy when there are obstacles like roots or trees in the way, so you have to think and plan your way through.
Are you involved in racing? Yes, I started racing with the Chatelech Team this year (2006, grade 10). Other then all of the people you get to hang out with and the atmasphere, I like the push to get better. I appreciate the endurence . The best part is when you feel like you are going to die any second, but then some adrenaline kicks in and you're all set to ride for hours. It is a feeling like nothing can touch you.
Favourite Race: I don't realy have a favorite race becasue I haven't really done enough to say. It wouldn't be fair to judge, if I hadn't tried them first, would it?
Favourite Ride: Either Halfmoon Bay or 'B&K' are REALLY nice, but lately I have gotten into the West Sechelt area: 'Big Fir' , 'Adernac' and 'Parback'.Those are the best! I like thsese ones because they aren't just, climb and then go down. You climb, then it's flat, then climb, then down, then a small climb, and a HUGE down hill !!!!!
Most Memorable Riding Experience: Probably the time when I went to my first ever race. I was sooooo nervous and scared I would screw up, that my throat seized up and I had an asthma attack. (and I don't even have asthma) so yah, it was one of the scariest moments of my life. I will always remember it. Next time, I won't be so nervous.
How has mountain biking helped? Mountain biking has actualy givin me a lot of self confidence. I think it is because I wasn't use to hanging out with large groups. I was encouraged to interact and become friends with other riders. I would never have done that unless I was forced to, but now I feel confident enough to talk to people and not even think about it.
What are your future goals? My goal is just to ride all of the time. Racing is fun. Finishing in the top 3 is always great, but it doesn't matter what you come in if you know that you have improved from last time. I just want to always do my best !!
How do you give back to the sport? Well, my life is fairly busy because I do a MILLION other sports, but I like to get involved with Sprockids because a lot of the kids don't realize that girls are just as good as guys are. It's kind of fun to show a guy up in front of a his peers. It also helps younger girls to know that they are just as capable.
Other Interests or Hobbies: SPORTS !!!!!!! If my life did not have sports, I would be an unhealthy kid. I play volleyball, hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis, baseball, and (of course) mountain biking. Additionally, I absolutely LOVE rock climbing, but it is realy hard to get in to on The Sunshine Coast without a lot of other people. I am definitely not a big reader. Instead, I like to cook, bake and paint. Currently I am, appropriately, painting a picture of a mountain biker.
